How UAE Gratuity Works

  • First 5 years: 21 days of basic salary per year of service
  • After 5 years: 30 days of basic salary per year of service
  • Maximum: Total gratuity cannot exceed 2 years' total salary
  • Pro-rated: Partial years calculated proportionally

Eligibility Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of continuous service required

Example Calculation

Employee with AED 15,000 basic salary and 7 years service: First 5 years = 21 × 15,000/30 × 5 = AED 52,500. Next 2 years = 30 × 15,000/30 × 2 = AED 30,000. Total gratuity = AED 82,500.
